You have adorable goats! We are working on building a goat herd. We have 7 right now. We raise Nubians and Oberhasli’s. What age do your goat usually pass away?

    Thank you~

Molly, I wanted to post some helpful disbudding info for your viewers - I have the luxury of being able to get xylazine and lidocaine from my horse vet (I’m a certified vet tech). I gave my 3 week old kids .1mg/kg of xylazine IM, then when they were down I injected about 1ml of lidocaine SQ all the way around the horn bud. Not one kid made a sound, or indicated that they felt any discomfort. I reversed with yohimbine after the procedure. It was soooo much less stressful for me and the babies. Also, the mommies didn’t have to listen to their babies screaming.

I am about to rescue a female goat, whose owner has to leave his rented home. It is, in fact, his neighbour who takes care of the goat and, as her home is owned by the same person, she has been frantically looking for someone to rescue this adorable animal. I’ve been busy building a wooden fence around a lovely glade on our land and my next job is to finish the stable I have begun. I hope to find another needy herd animal, to keep Fi Fi La Tour company.
    (Mad or what)?!
